Task clarification
On Thursday, I had a quick zoom meeting with Mark where we discussed the images in MC 1 that needed to be clarified. I had a lot of my questions from the first week answered, like:
What kind of style would be best to represent the visual aid?
Current style is great; mostly flat-design but sometimes 3D styles better represent certain diagrams.
How do I recreate the blurrier images that show technical detail?
Some of the images can be simplified because their purpose is less about showing the details and more about representing something. For example, one diagram shows a row of rockets being compared to each other, but the focus is on the comparison of scale rather than appearance.
What about visual aid that includes photography, like a specific satellite image from NASA?
These can't really be recreated, but some of them can be represented in an illustrative format.
Are there some images that we can use with an educational license?
Yes, NASA and ESA provide images and other content that is available and accessible to the public.
We discussed our action items and a timeline. In the next week or so, Mark is going to go through the document I had put together previously of images that I was unsure about, and he will be writing notes to clarify his teaching intentions behind each image. This will be an immense help when it comes to my task because it will remove the ambiguity behind the purpose of each visual asset and things will run a lot smoother in the design process.
I feel a lot more confident in my ability to successfully complete this task now!
Task progress
I am now in the process of going through the reference images for M5 of MC1. There's still a long way to go (eleven more modules to be exact), but now that my questions have been answered and my brief is a lot clearer, I have been able to pick up the pace.
